The variety is identified as a determinant standard variety, no more than 80 cm high. Its cultivation does not require additional operations in the form of a garter. However, in some cases (with a high level of soil nutrition and favorable temperature conditions), the bushes can reach 120 cm in height, and then the use of stakes or trellises cannot be avoided.

Fruit ripening occurs on average, 110 days after sowing. Suitable for growing in greenhouses and outdoors. Resistance to late blight and fusarium wilt is satisfactory.

The fruits of the Tamara tomato are red, flat-rounded, fleshy, with a pulp density above average. At the break, sugary, with a small amount of protruding juice, bright red. The seed chambers are shallow, 4-6 in one fruit. Fruit size is large - the average weight of one tomato is 300 g... The largest specimens weigh 500 g or more.

The fruits retain their taste and marketability well in the refrigerator for 3 weeks, they tolerate transportation satisfactorily.

Growing features

The Tamara tomato variety, despite its short stature, is able to provide gardeners with high-quality, very large fruits. Unlike other determinant varieties, it may require a garter.

To obtain conditioned seedlings, seeds are sown in mid-March, and young tomatoes are planted in the ground no earlier than the last decade of May or the first - June. The plant forms a fairly strong stem, while there are no stepchildren on the bushes. To increase the resistance of the plant, it is recommended to huddle them a little. Tomato "Tamara" is very picky about fertilizers and moisture... For the formation and ripening of such large fruits, it requires additional sources of nutrition.

It is important to generously fill the soil for planting this culture with a large amount of organic matter, and during the summer fertilize the bushes with mineral fertilizers.

  • Organic, mineral, phosphorus, complex and ready-made fertilizers, for seedlings and TOP of the best.
  • Yeast, iodine, ammonia, hydrogen peroxide, ash, boric acid.
  • What is foliar dressing and when picking, how to carry it out.

Diseases and pests

The variety is relatively resistant to late blight, but verticillium and powdery mildew can affect it. To avoid contamination in the fall, the site is freed from plant debris, and after planting the tomatoes, they and the soil are treated with potassium humate. When infections appear, fungicides will help - Bayleton and Topaz.

Among lovers of unusual tomatoes, the fruits of the Tamara variety have received the title of steaks for their flattened shape, bright color and meatiness. The palatability of the fruit, despite its large size, is rated very highly even by professionals..

It is not difficult to grow a variety, but it will not be easy to collect, and even more so to consume the entire crop, because its size will increase even experienced summer residents.
