Cherry tomatoes became popular with gardeners over 20 years ago. Small and very sweet fruits are the main value of this type of tomato. The Chery Blosem hybrid is a versatile variety, the cultivation of which does not cause difficulties even for novice summer residents.
The hybrid was launched in Japan in 1999. In Russia, it was registered relatively recently - in 2008. We will tell you more about it in this article. Read the full description of the variety, get acquainted with its characteristics and cultivation features.
Cherry Blosem tomatoes: variety description
In this variety, various spellings of the name are possible, such as: tomato Cherry Blosem, Cherry Blosem F1 or Cherry Blossom. They are all a determinant, standard-free hybrid. The ripening period of the first fruits is up to 110 days from the moment of seed germination (medium early). Average yields range from 3.7 to 4.5 kg per square meter... This hybrid can be grown both in greenhouses and on open beds. The maximum height of the bush is 1.1 m.
The peculiarity of the variety is its high resistance to verticellosis wilt, nematodes and fusarium. The tomato takes root well and bears fruit in almost all climatic zones, except for the regions of the far north.
Initially, the variety was recommended for cultivation in the North Caucasus region, but later proved to be excellent in other climatic zones, including the middle lane and southern regions of Siberia. Even with a satisfactory level of care and unstable weather, the yield of marketable fruits is at least 95%. The main advantage of the variety is its high yield for the determinant species and very high resistance to the main infections of tomatoes. Of the shortcomings, the need for a garter is noted at a low height of the bush (the central stem is thin and unstable).
The yields of other varieties are shown in the table below:
Variety name | Yield |
Cherry Blosem | 3.7-4.5 kg per square meter |
American ribbed | 5.5 from a bush |

Banana Red | 3 kg per bush |
Golden Jubilee | 15-20 kg per square meter |
Diva | 8 kg per bush |
Characteristics
Cherry Blosem tomato fruits are distinguished by their uniform fruit sizes and high solids content. The mass of tomatoes is 18-25 g... The skin is bright red, glossy, with a small spot at the stalk. The number of nests in one fruit does not exceed 2, and the concentration of dry matter is about 6%. The skin of the fruit is moderately firm and at the same time rather thin. Thanks to this, Cherie Blosem tomatoes can be stored for up to 30 days in a cool place. Tomatoes are suitable for harvesting for future use by preservation or salting. They are also used for the preparation of snacks (salads) and dried in general.

Growing features
What is the best way to grow tomato Cherry Blossom F1? It is recommended to do this through seedlings, especially in the northern and non-chernozem climatic zone. From the moment of seed germination to planting in the ground, at least 35 days must pass. In the southern regions, early sowing of seeds in the ground (under a temporary shelter) is possible.
Recommended planting scheme - 30 cm between plants, from 50 cm between rows... The variety, despite belonging to the determinant group, needs a garter and pinching.
It is recommended to remove all shoots below the first ovary (they can be rooted and planted to get another harvest in the fall). Plant care consists of regular watering (at least 2 times a week) and weekly feeding with complex fertilizers or organic matter with the addition of potassium and phosphorus salts. By applying these planting and grooming tips, you will reap a good harvest.
Diseases and pests
The variety is exposed to late blight and attack by whiteflies (especially in greenhouse cultivation. Preventive measures consist in regularly ventilating greenhouses and avoiding thickening of the plantings. When the first signs of late blight appear, it is recommended to treat the plantings with Phytosporin or Bordeaux mixture. Whiteflies are destroyed using sticky traps or approved insecticides.
Cherie Blosem is perhaps the only small-fruited hybrid with a determinate bush shape. Its cultivation will pay off with a rich harvest, even for novice gardeners.
